JEEP History

The story of JEEP is one that has strong overtones with American patriotism and valor. JEEP has emerged as one of the most sought-after automobiles in the world. With powerful engines and graceful designs, the brand's products have undoubtedly earned a spot in the greatest vehicles to ever have been made. If you're looking to purchase Jeep cars in Indian Trail, North Carolina, you should know about the manufacturer's rich history.

Powerful beginnings
The brand originated with the U.S Army’s need for a solid vehicle that could outperform horses and motorcycles. Originally designed by the American Bantam Car Company of Pennsylvania, the company released its first prototype when it had become known that the government was on the lookout for a small, military purpose vehicle. American Bantam then collaborated with Willys Overland and Ford to form what is today known as JEEP.

Civilian life
Jeep got a fresh lease of life when Willys decided to modify the army vehicle and release it as the ‘Civilian Jeep’. The car sold successfully for a few decades and inspired the creation of a whole new line of Jeep vehicles. These new car designs featured a station wagon, a pickup truck, and a small convertible car, all under the Jeep brand.

After World War 2, the company left its parent, American Bantam, behind and began to see success with Willys. In the year 1953, Kaiser bought Willy's and renamed the brand to Kaiser-Jeep. The brand was then purchased by AMC and subsequently by Chrysler, leading to the introduction of the first-generation Wrangler YJ.

SUV boom In the early 1990s, the introduction and sale of SUVs saw a significant spike. Chrysler, still flourishing from its acquisition of Jeep, introduced the popular Grand Cherokee. A few years later, Chrysler partnered with Daimler AG and released a range of sub-par quality vehicles. Soon after, Chrysler was on the verge of bankruptcy. The company was then acquired by Fiat to form Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).

Jeep continues to do well, and their vehicles have an old-soul quality about them, making it a brand that is respected and appreciated in the market. Regardless of the latest technology, the charm and legacy of Jeep vehicles will shine on for years to come. So go forth and buy the latest models of Jeep cars in Indian Trail, North Carolina
